The Blockchain doesn’t exist

This is a (not well done) translation from the italian post “La Blockchain non esiste“.

We hear more and more often people talking about “the Blockchain”: the blockchain for voting, the blockchain for the production chain, the thousand uses of the blockchain.
As if it were an entity, as if it were the Internet or the Web.
Politicians, opinion leaders, TV presenters, started talking about it and they have already begun to polarize the public opinion, as if it were the umpteenth political instrument at the service of this or that electoral campaign.
Here I offer you your daily shock: “the Blockchain” does not exist.
Or rather, it’s not what you think.

La Blockchain non esiste

Si sente sempre più spesso parlare di blockchain: la blockchain per le votazioni, la blockchain per la filiera produttiva, i mille usi della blockchain.
Come se fosse un’entità a sé stante, come se fosse Internet o il Web.
Hanno iniziato a parlarne politici, opinionisti, presentatori tv, e hanno già iniziato a polarizzare l’attenzione del pubblico, come se si trattasse dell’ennesimo strumento politico al servizio di questa o quella campagna elettorale. C’è anche chi ha iniziato a scrivere “il blockchain”, spingendomi a insultare “i loro” madri, ogni volta che leggo certe oscenità.
Ecco che vi offro il vostro shock quotidiano: “la Blockchain” non esiste.
O meglio, non è ciò che pensate.
